Support for Matou

Setup and compatibility information for current development builds. Version-specific guides will be added with the first public release.

Accounts

Email accounts

Matou supports providers with IMAP and SMTP access. Some providers require OAuth or an app password instead of the password used on their website.

OpenPGP

OpenPGP keys

Use Matou’s encrypted key vault, or install the optional GPG Connector to use an existing ~/.gnupg keyring and gpg-agent.

S/MIME

S/MIME identities

Import PKCS#12 identities and protect private key material with macOS Keychain. Matou can discover and validate recipient certificates before sending.

Message privacy

Remote content and tracking

Matou can block remote images, identify likely email trackers, and remove common tracking parameters from links.

Requirements

Before you install Matou

The public build is planned for macOS 14 or later. Check that your provider allows IMAP and SMTP access.

  • A Mac running macOS 14 or later
  • An email account with IMAP and SMTP access
  • OAuth or an app password if required by your provider
  • Optional: an OpenPGP key or S/MIME certificate
